KIEN GIANG PROVINCE HAS DECIDED THE INVESTMENT POLICY OF NEARLY 1,500 BILLION VND IMPLEMENTATING THE COASTAL ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECT FROM HON DAT TO KIEN LUONG.
Highway 80 from Rach Gia to Ha Tien is seriously degraded and is regularly repaired.
On November 15, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province announced that the province has decided to invest in a project of coastal road from Hon Dat to Kien Luong with a total length of 39.4km.
Accordingly, the starting point of the project is Hon Me Mountain (in Tho Son commune, Hon Dat district) and the end point of the project is at Binh An junction (Kien Luong district). The total investment capital of the project reaches nearly 1,500 billion VND, from the central budget, invested by the Department of Transport of Kien Giang province. Implementation time during the period of 2021 - 2024.
The total roadbed is 12m wide (within 2.5m x 2.5m), the vehicle part is 11m; high-grade pavement structure A1; scale of plain grade III roads, with 2 motorized lanes; design speed from 60 - 80km/h; HL93 payload (equivalent to 30 tons).
The project implements 24 new bridges on the entire route, the lighting system along both sides of the route, the traffic safety system according to the National technical regulations on road signaling.
In 2019, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province also invested in building a coastal route from Rach Gia city to Hon Dat and from Rach Gia city to Chau Thanh district with a length of nearly 30Km, the total investment of the two routes mentioned above is about 2,300 billion VND, equal to the provincial budget, in the period of 2019 - 2023. Currently, the work is under construction, if connecting more Hon Dat to Kien Luong route, it will increase the length of the whole route to 69km, completing traffic is expected to be 2024.
The coastal route connecting the 3/2 road runs through the center of the Northwest urban area of Rach Gia city, Kien Giang province.
Mr. Le Viet Bac, Director of the Department of Transport of Kien Giang province (representing the investor) affirmed: "When the coastal traffic route is completed, this will be the lifeline of traffic, shortening the time from Ha Tien to Rach Gia and vice versa.
At the same time, it will contribute to the prevention of natural disasters, floods, climate change, sea level rise, assurance of national security, environmental hygiene, coastal aquaculture exploitation, and improve economic, cultural and social development of remote districts".
In addition, it helps to reduce traffic for the National Highway 80 connecting parallel to the southern coastal corridor connecting Vietnam with Cambodia and Thailand.
