After 4 years of construction, Lo Te - Rach Soi expressway project with an investment of more than 6,300 billion VND officially opened in the afternoon of January 12.
On the afternoon of January 12, the Ministry of Transport coordinated with the Corporation for Investment and Development and Traffic Infrastructure Management of Cuu Long and the People's Committee of Kien Giang Province held the inauguration ceremony of the construction investment project of Lo Te - Rach Soi route. This is not only good news for the two provinces of Kien Giang - Can Tho but also a common joy of many people looking forward to a new route.
Highway Lo Te - Rach Soi is a work of important significance, connecting the economic centers of the Mekong Delta.
According to the plan, the route Lo Te - Rach Soi is the section of the Chon Thanh - Dat Mui axis of the Ho Chi Minh road. According to the investment phase, the project is built with expressway standard grade A, the designed speed is 80 km/h; has 4 lanes. The completed phase will be invested with a scale of 6 lanes and asphalt concrete road surface, the designed speed is 100 km/h. When put into operation, the time from Can Tho to Kien Giang will be only 50 minutes, instead of 90 minutes in the direction of Highway 80.
As stated by the Ministry of Transport, putting this project into operation in the early days of the new year 2021 is very important, helping transportation businesses build plans to carry passengers and goods during Tet holiday. At the same time, creating conditions for people in An Giang and Kien Giang provinces to move more conveniently during the upcoming Lunar New Year.
Route Lo Te - Rach Soi shortens the travel time from Can Tho to Kien Giang to only 50 minutes, instead of 90 minutes in the direction of Highway 80.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee, said that the completed project and put into operation will create a strong motivation for Kien Giang. The completion of this route is the start of the next phase in completing key transport infrastructure, improving the capacity of exploitation, connecting traffic from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong Delta provinces, promoting connectivity between regions, especially linking international traffic to Cambodia and Thailand.
At the ceremony, the Minister of Transport - Mr. Nguyen Van The said: In three consecutive years from 2018 to 2020, the Ministry of Transport has completed 3 components of the project connecting the center of the Mekong Delta, a route from Cao Lanh City to Rach Gia city has been formed with 4 lanes and a median line in the middle created convenient traveling.
"Today's event marks a great significance, not only for socio-economic development, but also to help people eradicate poverty by forming livelihoods along the route, especially , this route also plays an important role in political military", Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The stressed.
Highway Lo Te - Rach Soi officially opened on 12.1.2021.
Route Lo Te - Rach Soi is 51km long, 17m wide and built according to expressway standard class A. The starting point of the route is at Km02-104.11 in Vinh Thanh district, Can Tho city, connected to Vam Cong bridge project which has been completed and put into operation; The ending point is at Km53 + 553 in Chau Thanh district, Kien Giang province, connected to the Rach Gia bypass project.
The project is invested with loans from the Korean Government and the reciprocal capital of the Vietnamese Government with a total investment of 6,355 billion VND. After being executed, only road motor vehicles are allowed except motorcycles and mopeds. Any section passing the residential area will be a frontage road for people to easily circulate.
According to the Minister, in the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025, the Ministry of Transport has coordinated with many ministries and localities to develop a plan to better invest in the infrastructure system for this area. By 2023, the expressway from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho will be completed.
